A creative way to make your favourite Christmas decoration into even more of a treat. Simply take a DIY hot chocolate bomb, and jazz it up to make it tasty enough to hang on the tree.
Ingredients
Shopping List
250g chocolate finely chopped, plus extra to serve
3 tbsp festive sprinkles, plus extra to serve
900ml hot chocolate or hot milk
Whipped Cream
6 slot (6.5cm/6.7cm) hemisphere mould tray
Small piping bag or small paint brush (or teaspoon)
Allergies
Dairy
Directions
- STEP ONE
Put 190g of chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
- STEP TWO
Bring a saucepan of water to boil, with enough room so that the bowl can fit in it but not touch the water.
- STEP THREE
On low heat, put the bowl on top of the saucepan and let it melt, tilting the bowl now and again to mix.
- STEP FOUR
Once melted, take the bowl of the pan, add the rest of the chocolate, mix for 1 minute until smooth.
- STEP FIVE
Pour 2/3 of the chocolate into the moulds, tilt to spread it to the edges then tip the excess chocolate back into the bowl. Scrape any more chocolate from the mould tray with a palette knife back into the bowl. Leave chocolate side down on a flat tray lined with greaseproof paper to set solid.
- STEP SIX
Gently melt the rest of the chocolate again and repeat this process to make a second layer.
- STEP SEVEN
Once set, carefully pop out the moulds, one at a time. Spread the rim of the flat sides with melted chocolate (that's had a few minutes to cool). Leave to set.
- STEP EIGHT
Paint, pipe or drizzle stripes of melted chocolate, one thin stripe at a time and press into the sprinkles to stick them. Decorate in stages so the bauble doesn't melt in your hands, then leave to set.
- STEP NINE
Add Baileys to your hot chocolate, drop the bauble in to melt. Top with cream and sprinkles.
